Puddles Recede As Area Heads Into Warmer, Mostly Sunny Week

  • October 12, 2026

After a week of excessive rainfall, we get a chance to dry out as the puddles recede.

In 10 days, Jacksonville received more than 16 inches of rain at Craig Airport. This breaks the previous October record of 11.73 inches on 2007. The last time we saw this amount of rain was with Tropical Storm Debby in 2012.

Comfortably cool mornings with patchy fog will give way to warm afternoons under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. A light northeast wind will continue through the week. Temperatures this week will remain above average. Lows this time of year are around 62 degrees with highs in the lower 80s.

The wind will increase this weekend as a cold front approaches from the northwest. Behind the front, a strong northeasterly flow will develop with temperatures dropping by about 8 to 10 degrees. Sustained onshore winds, along the coast, will reach 20-25 mph, gusting near 30-40 mph. Along with the onshore winds, isolated to scattered showers with potentially a few embedded storms will be possible.

Minor tidal flooding will be possible along the St. Johns River through Tuesday afternoon.
