JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two men in their mid-20s were were shot Tuesday afternoon on Jacksonville’s Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The Robbery and Violent Crime Unit said officers first responded to a ShotSpotter alert near Labelle Street around 4:44 p.m.
A few minutes later, at about 4:47 p.m., officers were called to the 1300 block of Cassat Avenue on reports of a person shot.
When officers arrived, witnesses told law enforcement a gunshot victim asked them to call police but left in a vehicle before officers got there.

According to JSO, the men arrived at an apartment complex to pick up personal belongings.
As one man got out of the vehicle, he heard gunshots, realized he had been hit and started running, investigators said. Police said he was then picked up by the other victim and the two drove to a hospital.
The suspect was described as a man in his “early 20’s with short dreadlocks,” according to JSO.
A nearby building was also struck by gunfire, police said. JSO says this is believed to be an isolated incident, and there’s no threat to the public.
