Don’t get too used to sunny skies and lower humidity. The weather is changing in South Florida.
Expect the relief to continue most of Wednesday, but rain chances will increase through the week and weekend, according to forecasters.
“Enjoy …. while you can,” Lissette Gonzalez, meteorologist at Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami, said Wednesday morning. “It was nice while it lasted.”
Wednesday will start out as clear, but not quite as cool as Tuesday, when morning temperatures dipped into the low- to mid-70s in parts of South Florida.
There’s a 20% chance of rain, rising to 50% at night, according to the National Weather Service in Miami. And high temperatures on Wednesday will stay on the sizzling side, with a high of 87, before dipping to 79 at night.
Changes in South Florida
Rain chances will increase to 30% Thursday and Friday before cranking up over the weekend. If you have plans on Saturday and Sunday, including the Hurricanes-Seminoles football game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, be prepared to get wet.
The weather service pegs Saturday with an 80% chance of rain. The big game starts at 7 p.m.
“We’re in for a stormy and windy pattern,” Gonzalez said.
Highs from Wednesday through Saturday will stay in the upper-80s during the day and the mid- to upper-70s at night.
Sunday’s forecast calls for a 90% chance of rain, according to weather service forecasters.
The good news? The high temperature will be around 84, according to the weather service.
“At least temperatures won’t be quite as hot,” Gonzalez said.
