• I stopped at Sam’s in Sanford for gas. A truck in front of me took forever to start the process to get his gas and he then proceeded to clean out piles of trash from his truck. I can understand pitching a food wrapper or cup, but this guy had so much trash it was unreal. He was not paying attention to see if his gas had stopped pumping. Please be kind and respectful of other customers lined up for gas. Clean your car full of garbage elsewhere and don’t hold up a line of customers.
• I am ticked off that Orlando TV stations sent reporters to the Panhandle to cover a hurricane. Television stations are licensed to operate in the public interest. It is a stretch to declare that covering a storm literally hundreds of miles from Orlando has our best interests at heart. It’s bad enough that most local coverage revolves around crime … stories that have little or no impact on our lives. This is all a race for a “news glamour shot” so that they can brag about how swell a job they’re doing in order to pat themselves on the back. Otherwise, I’ll stick to the Weather Channel.
The flip side
• I really appreciate the Orange County Government Human Resources Benefits staff, who answers questions emailed from employees during open enrollment for 2027 health benefits. They answered my questions very efficiently, professionally and in a very timely manner during this busy two-week enrollment period.
