Jaylen BaronCAPE CORAL, Fla. —

Kids in Cape Coral were caught on camera trying to run over ducks in an open lot on Southwest Second Avenue using e-motos, which are faster and more powerful than e-bikes.

“Now kids, instead of being kids on a bicycle, they’re going to be kids on something that does 45, 50, 60 mph. And they’re just going to do whatever they can do,” said Arsenio Godinho, with Paradise Bicycles in Cape Coral.

Residents say a group of ducks has lived in the lot for years. A woman who witnessed the incident off-camera said she couldn’t believe the kids were trying to harm the animals.

Godinho explained the difference between e-motos and e-bikes, emphasizing the need for better education about these vehicles.

“There isn’t enough education to explain to parents, grandparents, people that don’t know what it is that those are not e-bicycles. Those are e-motos. That’s what those young gentlemen are on is an electric motorcycle, not an electric bicycle. Massive difference,” Godinho said.

E-bikes and e-motos have been an ongoing issue in Cape Coral, with reports of riders going the wrong way and swerving in and out of traffic. Residents on Southwest Second Avenue are now urging parents to ensure their children understand the risks of using these vehicles, especially when it involves harming animals.
