ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Continuing conversations are scheduled Thursday as city officials debate whether to increase the prices of parking fees and permits.
If approved, the new fines will be double the current ones for overstaying parking time.
Expired meter tickets would rise from $17.50 to $32.50, while most other violations would increase from $30 to $45. Monthly downtown permits would rise to $25 and annual residential permits would double to $30.
In a city council meeting back in September, council member Deborah Figgs-Sanders brought up how parking is a big issue for small businesses in downtown, saying quote “We are preemptive from preventing this from happening.”
Today’s city council meeting will start at 1:30 p.m., followed by public comments and a final vote.
