CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Two men at a Cape Coral halfway house are facing charges after a roommate reported seeing one of them viewing child sexual abuse material.
The Cape Coral Police Department’s Special Victims Unit arrested William Plumley and Enrico Mendes Jr. following an investigation at a halfway house at 1700 NW 1st Ave in Cape Coral on Monday, Oct. 12.
A resident at the home reported seeing Plumley, a registered sex offender, viewing child sexual abuse material on his phone.
The Special Victims Unit took over the investigation and executed a search warrant at the home, with the Florida Department of Corrections Probation and Parole assisting.
Both Plumley and Mendes Jr. were arrested for violating their probation by having unauthorized phones capable of connecting to the internet.
During the search, investigators found multiple electronic devices, including a smashed phone hidden in a bathroom.
Residents told investigators that Plumley had gone into the bathroom to hide shortly before law enforcement arrived.
The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges could be coming.
