CAPE CORAL, Fla. —
A Cape Coral man accused of leaving the scene of a crash that seriously injured two people on a motorcycle entered a no-contest plea on Wednesday.
According to a Cape Coral Police Department arrest report, officers responded to a crash in April 2025 involving a black Hyundai Tucson and a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle at Del Prado Boulevard and Northeast Second Street.
Security camera footage showed the motorcycle headed north when the Hyundai turned into its path, causing a crash, CCPD said. Witnesses said that the driver of the Hyundai left the scene without checking on the two occupants of the motorcycle.
The driver of the Hyundai was identified as Donis Centeno, and he was arrested. He was charged with two counts of failure to remain at the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury and one count of driving with a suspended license and causing serious injury.
On Wednesday, Centeno pleaded no contest to one charge of leaving the scene of the crash and the charge of driving with a suspended license. The state dropped the second charge of leaving the scene of the crash, court documents show.
Centeno was sentenced to 72 months in prison for the charge of leaving the scene of the crash, and 60 months for the charge of driving with a suspended license. The sentences will be served concurrently, which means Centeno will spend 72 months in prison.
