Every so often, you come across something that arrives exactly when you need it. For me, that’s Yarrow of Tomorrow, a new podcast that premiered this week, hosted by award-winning author and social entrepreneur Dr. Kimberly McGlonn.

Full disclosure: Kimberly is my mentor, a dear friend, and I’m a bit of a fan. Everything she says inspires me and challenges me, often in the same breath. Whenever she shares a piece of advice, I tell her I’m off to embroider it on a pillow for later. Some of you may have already felt that magic, since she’s spoken to a Tampa crowd before.

Now, this podcast brings a little of that power right into your home. And on the days I can’t sit down with her over coffee, I’m so glad to have her voice in my ears to keep me inspired.

Rising from the ashes

The show takes its name from the yarrow, a wildflower known for being one of the first to return after a fire. It’s a fitting image for a series about starting over. Across ten episodes, Kimberly sits down with various founders, artists, and icons who were forced to rebuild after a major transition in their lives and asks them how they did it.

The guest list is impressive. It includes Todd Carmichael, co-founder of La Colombe; Power99’s Roxy Romeo; Muhammad Abdul-Hadi; and award-winning chef Eli Kulp. Each conversation is candid, the kind of talk you rarely hear from people who’ve built something big.

The show kicks off with Todd Carmichael, and I was struck by how genuine and open he was. Here’s someone who has built incredible things, yet he talks just as honestly about the struggles we all face in our everyday lives. Listening, I felt a little less alone. If you’ve ever been an entrepreneur, or dreamed of being one, I think you’ll feel the same. This episode is for you.

Why it matters in Tampa

What I love most about these conversations is the reminder that there’s no single path forward. Some guests rebuilt slowly, one step at a time. Others reinvented themselves completely. Listening, you realize just how many directions a life or a business can take, and that a setback can be the start of the next chapter rather than the end of the story.

That message feels especially relevant in Tampa. This is a city of entrepreneurs. The structure here to support founders, from startup resources to a community that genuinely shows up for local businesses, makes it a place where people take big swings. With that come setbacks and a whole lot of pivots. Yarrow of Tomorrow is for anyone who’s been in it or is there now, giving some promise of what’s ahead.

I highly recommend it, whether you’re running a business, dreaming one up or just navigating a transition of your own. You might find exactly the encouragement you need.
