Winds of change: Fall weather here to stay for Tallahassee, the Big Bend and South Georgia🍂

  • October 17, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Hold on to your hats today. The winds are blowing!

Windy weekend ahead

Cloudy to start today as a cold front barrels through. An isolated shower for the next few hours. However, rain looks unlikely for most of us, so I am keeping the rain chance around 10 to 20%.

Temperatures are falling slowly throughout the day with gusty winds. Gusts between 25 and 35 mph on through this afternoon. Still breezy tonight with occasional gusts to 20. Sustained winds between 6 and 12 mph. I would argue that it is going to be chilly tonight. Lows fall into the low 50s. I would not be shocked to see some upper 40s.

Still breezy with mostly sunny skies on Sunday. A cool north breeze will keep temperatures in the low 70s in the afternoon.

Winds could lead to some power outages. Be sure your devices are charged throughout the weekend.

Rough marine conditions

Rough waters are expected this weekend as winds get cranking.

Water temperature: 80

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with a stray shower. Turning windy. North wind 25 to 30 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet. Rough on the bays and protected waters.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a stray shower. Turning windy. North wind 25 to 30 knots. Seas 5 to 9 feet. Very rough on the bays and protected waters.

Still feeling like fall

Monday and Tuesday mornings, you are going to really need the jackets. It is going to be the coldest start to the day we have seen in quite some time, with temperatures bottoming out in the upper 40s.

Afternoons will be nice in the mid to upper 70s.

Slowly warming near 80 degrees and overnight lows close to average in the 50s most of next week with PLENTY of sunshine.
