– At 45 career assists, Ojeda is two helpers away from Mauricio Pereyra’s club record of 47. Iván Angulo, at 44, is three assists away from Pereyra and one back of Ojeda. Angulo’s next goal for the club would be his 20th in all competitions.

– Wilder Cartagena is two appearances away from 100 for Orlando City in all competitions.

Stats & Storylines

– Martín Ojeda etched his name into the Orlando City record books on Wednesday night in Toronto, scoring his 48th career goal and surpassing Facundo Torres for the most goals in all competitions in club history. Ojeda has scored 35 times since the start of the 2025 season, the most in a two-season stretch for any Orlando player.

– Antoine Griezmann continued his extraordinary first season in Orlando with another 1g/1a game, his second straight. Griezmann is up to 11g/6a in 17 appearances across all competitions as a Lion. The Frenchman became the first player in MLS history to contribute to a goal in 11 of his first 13 regular season appearances. Griezmann has a goal contribution in nine consecutive MLS regular season matches, three behind Ojeda’s club record 12 straight from last season.

– While Iván Angulo’s five-game MLS regular season goal streak was snapped, the Colombian recorded an assist while playing multiple positions in the game once again, bringing him up to 6g/13a for the season.

– The Lions were short-handed against Toronto, going without Robin Jansson and Griffin Dorsey due to injury and Justin Ellis due to illness, while also missing Marco Pašalić due to yellow card accumulation. There was some good news, as central midfielder Braian Ojeda returned from a two-and-a-half-month injury absence with a late cameo.

– Orlando returns home with a valuable road point and a bit more cushion in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Lions benefited from other results around the league; the three teams directly behind them in the standings all lost on Wednesday night. City holds a five point edge on three different teams for a playoff spot and a two point lead on RBNY and Cincinnati for the seventh seed, which avoids the Wild Card Match and guarantees a spot in the Best of Three First Round.

Meet the opponent: D.C. United

– Orlando City owes Columbus a receipt for last month’s heartbreaking Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinal defeat. After a hard-fought first 45 minutes that ended 1-1, the Crew pounced early in the second half while Antoine Griezmann was attempting to play through a knock and held on to win 2-1 and advance to the final. Columbus is set to host St. Louis City at Scotts-MiracleGro Field in the final on October 21.

– Despite strong overall home results against Columbus, the Lions haven’t defeated the Crew at Inter.co Stadium since 2023, when Ramiro Enrique spearheaded a three-goal comeback in the final 20 minutes of the second half for one of the more dramatic wins in Orlando City history.

– Columbus won each of its two regular season matches after the semifinal, putting itself within four points of an MLS Cup Playoffs berth with seven games to play. The surge has been led by new DPs Brais Méndez (6g/4a all competitions) and Santiago Rodriguez (2g/1a in six games), both of whom joined in the summer.

– The Crew also feature old Orlando nemesis Josef Martínez, playing for his fifth MLS club. Martínez’s opener in the Open Cup semifinal was his 11th career goal against Orlando City, the most any individual player has ever scored against the Lions.
