A 10-year-old girl was hospitalized after her 8-year-old brother threw a knife at her at their Lauderhill apartment on Thursday, police said.
Officers responded to the apartment in the 2900 block of Northwest 56th Avenue around 3:30 p.m. after the girl’s mother said she had been injured with a knife, Lauderhill Police officials said.
The girl told police she was cutting pizza when her brother became upset about not receiving his piece, saying he grabbed a knife and threw it at her, hitting her in the chest.
Her mother said she had stepped outside to get her mail and returned to find her daughter running out of the apartment and bleeding from her chest.
The girl appeared to have suffered a small cut to her chest and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
