TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Crews contained a fire at the vacant Weinberg Village Jewish Community Center in Tampa on Saturday.

According to the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, a bystander called 911 at 4:17 p.m., reporting smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building.

Firefighters arrived and quickly requested a second alarm because of the building’s size and potential fire load.

The incident was subsequently upgraded to a third alarm, and crews brought the fire under control within 90 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Facility staff told HCFR that the building had been vacant for about one year.

The scene remained active Saturday evening as firefighters continued to work the scene.

The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
