STUART — Downtown Stuart is going to the dogs, and this year, hard hats are part of the dress code.
The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast will host its 12th annual Pup Crawl on Saturday, Nov. 7, with a “Hard Hats & Happy Tails” theme inspired by renovations at its Palm City animal shelter.
Dogs and their humans are invited to enjoy costumes, refreshments and stops at five downtown restaurants: Duffy’s Sports Grill, Hudson’s on the River, Taco Shack, Stack: Burgers & Bourbon and Stuart Boathouse. Registered participants receive VIP access and one complimentary drink at each stop.
Participants must be 21 or older, and all proceeds benefit the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast.
Check-in and registration will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on the Promenade next to Stuart Boathouse. The event continues until 10 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to dress for the construction-themed occasion, with costume contest prizes awarded in three categories: Best Dressed Person, Best Dressed Pup and Best Dressed Person & Pup Duo. The evening also will feature a 50/50 raffle.
The event is dog-friendly, but organizers emphasize the importance of keeping pets comfortable and safe throughout the event. All dogs must be kept on nonretractable leashes and be properly supervised. Owners should watch for signs of heat exhaustion, aggression, overstimulation or other concerns.
Pets are not permitted indoors at participating establishments, so attendees bringing dogs are encouraged to use a buddy system.
Tickets are $35 per person in advance or $40 at the door.
The event is sponsored by McBride Legal Group, P.A., and TCPalm.
The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, a locally operated nonprofit based at 4100 S.W. Leighton Farm Ave. in Palm City, has advocated for animal welfare in Martin County since 1955. The no-kill organization relies on donations to support its programs and services.
