TAMPA, Fla. — Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy praised Steelers Nation after Sunday’s 26-19 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There was a sea of Terrible Towels at Raymond James Stadium. It was a complete takeover. That is common when the Steelers play in Sun Belt cities.

“It was a tough win, and those are never easy. Most importantly, I thought the crowd was phenomenal. Seeing the Terrible Towels out there, especially during the key moments in the fourth quarter and overtime, was special. That’s a special road win,” McCarthy said.

The Steelers’ win over the Bucs was McCarthy’s first road win with the club.

Safety Jaquan Brisker, who’s a Pittsburgh native, also credited Steelers Nation for taking over.

“W! Steeler Nation you are unbelievable!!! Turned that into OUR STADIUM. We needed you !! Yessir baby , Road Win. 2 in a row,” Brisker wrote on X.

Cornerback Brandin Echols gave a shout-out to Steelers fans, as well.

“That mf felt like a home game!!!!!!! Shoutout to yall,” Echols wrote on X.

Left tackle Tristan Wirfs doesn’t blame Bucs fans for not showing up.

“Can you blame them?” Wirfs said, via JoeBucsFan.com. “You know, we’re 1-4 and haven’t really given them much to cheer about.

“So, yeah, it sucks. It sucks when you’re going damn near silent count at home. But you’ve got to give [fans] something to cheer for.”

The Steelers rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring 16 points to take a 19-16 lead with 1:21 remaining in regulation. The Buccaneers answered, as Chase McLaughlin nailed a 53-yard field goal to send the game to overtime.

On the Steelers’ opening drive of overtime, Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers capped a 12-play, 70-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Germie Bernard.

On the Bucs’ ensuing possession, Daniels got Tampa Bay to the Steelers’ 48-yard line, but All-Pro defensive back Jalen Ramsey recorded a sack on fourth-and-8 to seal the win.

‘You know, I don’t really know, to be honest,” Wirfs said about the Bucs blowing a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter. “We’re up by 13 and, I don’t know. I don’t have anything. I’m not going to say anything right now. I don’t know what it is. It’s insanely frustrating. You know, to be up 13 at home. We haven’t won a f***ing home game yet. And to not be able to finish out the game is really frustrating.”
