TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders appeared in the capital city Sunday night at an event called “Fighting Oligarchy.”
The event took place at The Moon, with more than a thousand people turning out to hear from Sanders and special guest Angie Nixon.
Sanders spoke about the upcoming election, calling it the “most important midterm election in modern history.” He also discussed issues like affordability and healthcare.

“Trump’s best friends, you see them every day in the papers, all the oligarchs at dinner with him, the wealthiest people in the world, he is working day and night for them, they are becoming unbelievably rich under Trump, and meanwhile 60% of the people in our country live paycheck to paycheck,” Sanders said.
Some attendees we spoke with say events like these are informative and help voters get to know the candidates.
“Learn more about what’s going on in the general political landscape, and it’s never a bad thing to just get more information,” one attendee said.
Another attendee said, “I’m here to support people that are hopefully going to represent us, our generation and everyone else in America.”
A Republican National Committee spokesperson also sent a statement about Sunday night’s event.
“Socialist hacks Angie Nixon and Bernie Sanders are fighting to hike taxes, empty prisons, give mass amnesty to millions of criminal illegal aliens, and make taxpayers fund sex change surgeries. The Democrats are wasting their time and money in the Free State of Florida because voters will never elect a far-left lunatic like Nixon,” RNC Spokeswoman Emma Hall said.
