You don’t have to wait until Nov. 3 to vote in the midterm elections.
Early voting started Monday, Oct, 19, in South Florida.
Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day through Nov. 1 at designated voting centers in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. In the Florida Keys, early voting runs 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct 31.
If you don’t cast your ballot early or by mail, you can vote on Election Day, Nov. 3, at your designated precinct.
Here’s what else to know about early voting in South Florida:
What you need to bring with you to vote Make sure to bring a valid photo ID with you to vote. Alie Skowronski Miami Herald File
If you’re voting early or on Election Day, you must bring a valid photo ID with a signature. Bring your voter information card to make the process easier, but it’s not required.
Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe counties list acceptable forms of ID to vote.
If you don’t have an ID with you, you can still vote with a provisional ballot. That means a canvassing board will compare your signature to the one in your voter registration record. If they don’t match, the Supervisor of Elections office will try to contact you.
If you vote with a provisional ballot, the polling site must give you a written notice of rights with instructions on how to check if your ballot was counted. Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe have online portals to track your ballot.
You can drop your mail-in ballot at any early voting location ahead of Election Day. Pedro Portal pportal@miamiherald.com Can you drop off your mail ballot in person?

If you requested and filled out a mail-in ballot, you can drop it off at any early voting location instead of mailing it, or bring it to your county’s Supervisor of Elections office.
If you haven’t requested a mail-in ballot yet but want to vote from home or if you’re traveling, you still have time to request one. Your county’s election department must receive your request before 5 p.m. Oct. 22.
If you wait until Election Day to return your mail-in ballot, you must bring it directly to a Supervisor of Elections office before 7 p.m. for your vote to count. If you bring your vote-by-mail ballot to your assigned polling location on Election Day, poll workers will cancel that ballot and allow you to vote in person.
If you didn’t request a mail-in ballot, you can vote at any location in your county during early voting. But on Nov. 3 Election Day, you must go to your assigned polling location to cast your vote.

It’s a good idea to check your sample ballot to get familiar with who’s running and give yourself more time to decide.
Miami-Dade County, Broward and Monroe offer sample ballots online. You can bring a sample ballot or notes with you into the pollin gplace to help you remember how you plan to vote.
