On Monday, Alachua, Flagler, Putnam and Bradford counties all opened their early voting polls.
In the days leading up to Tuesday’s start in Duval, both the Republican Party of Duval County and the Supervisor of Elections office, along with All Voting Is Local and its partners, held get out to vote rallies encouraging residents to make their voices heard.
The numbers in Duval County
Duval County has around 655,000 registered voters and officials anticipate 135,000 people will vote early.
Of the 45,000 vote-by-mail ballots sent out, around 13,000 have already been returned.
More polling locations and free parking
Starting Tuesday, Duval County voters will have more options when it comes to casting their ballots.
Election officials have added two new polling locations this cycle, one on the campus of Edward Waters University and another at the Dallas James Graham Branch Library.
And for those heading to the Supervisor of Elections office, free parking is being offered in the surrounding area to make the process as convenient as possible.
What’s on the ballot
This election cycle has no shortage of issues on the ballot and voters say they are informed and ready to weigh in.
“I think property taxes have to be cut. Again, given all the growth of this state, my concern is how much, and does Amendment 3 go too far to where in a downturn, there’s a shortfall if things go south,” Chris said, a Duval County resident.
“I hope the senators and representatives do what we ask,” said Michael Beldon.
What to bring to the polls
Before you head to the polls, make sure you have a valid photo ID with a signature that could be your U.S. passport, Florida ID, driver’s license or another form of identification.
