Willie Smith, 70, is accused of manslaughter after a fatal shooting at an apartment complex on Jacksonville’s Westside.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 70-year-old man was arrested and accused of manslaughter after a fatal shooting on Jacksonville’s Westside on Monday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
Officers responded to a shooting just after midnight at an apartment complex on West 13th Street and found Dakaari Bray, 27, with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Bray died before he could get medical attention, officials said.
Multiple people were detained and officials learned there was an argument between residents at neighboring apartment units that led to a fight.
JSO said Willie Smith, 70, pulled out a gun and shot Bray in the chest.
Smith was arrested for manslaughter and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. By 3:30 p.m., Smith was booked into the Duval County jail.
This incident is still under investigation.
