Former President Clinton campaigns for David Jolly in South Florida, and we look at the race for Congresisional District 13.

Former President Clinton campaigns for David Jolly

Our top story tonight: Former President Bill Clinton is campaigning for David Jolly.

This marks Clinton’s first public campaign appearance of the 2026 midterm cycle.

His visit to South Florida comes as more and more national political figures of both parties head to Florida to campaign for their candidates of choice in statewide races.

Vice President J.D. Vance was in Lakeland earlier this month campaigning with Republicans.

Senator Bernie Sanders was campaigning across the state this past weekend for U.S. Senate candidate Angie Nixon.

And on Friday, President Donald Trump will be in Fort Myers to rally with Byron Donalds.

Now to the race for Congressional District 13: Retired Army Brigadier General Leela Gray, the Democrat in the race, held a roundtable discussion Tuesday with local veterans in Largo.

“Today’s experience was to have a conversation with veterans. It is a population that I think is often forgotten. And having served in the Army for 30 years myself, I understand what it is to serve,” Gray said. “I commanded four times. I deployed three times. And I’ve also spent the last several years helping do advocacy work for veterans. So for me, it’s really about listening to what’s going on in the veteran community, learning about what their specific issues are, and then planning to lead to solve them.”

Gray said one of the main issues she is seeing is with the DOGE cuts to the VA. She says the government is not backfilling the doctors and nurses, who were helping our veterans, were laid off.

Gray’s opponent is Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna.

She was at a rally with Sen. Ashley Moody yesterday and spoke about the wars going on in Russia and Iran, and how Democrats seem to view them differently.

Luna says that Democrats are being hypocritical.

“And for the same people that are saying that they want to end the war in Iran, do you know that the president is actively working on that? And every time the president got close to a peace deal, they would do a War Powers Resolution vote and blow up the peace negotiations? How hypocritical is that?No one wants to say it, but that’s the actual truth,” she said.

“And they’ll go a step further in saying this. Every single Democrat that says they’re against war, the war in Iran, is saying that they’re for the war in Ukraine. So can we at least be a little bit ideologically honest in this whole thing? If you are against war, be against war to begin with, and advocate for the president to secure a peace deal. But don’t be hypocritical in any of it.”

Donalds, Moody and Luna will all be at the “Get Out the Vote” rally this Saturday in Clearwater.
