Of all the jaw-dropping moments at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in L.A. Sunday night, one likely takes the cake.
We’re of course talking about Kylie Jenner, who managed to snag the spotlight from some of the most genetically blessed mortals on the planet.
In her debut with the popular lingerie retailer, the reality star strutted out in the so-called Fantasy Bra, a diamond encrusted creation first donned by OG Claudia Schiffer in 1996 on billboards and the catalogue.
This year marked the bedazzled bra’s return to Victoria’s Secret’s runway for the first time since 2018, when it was made by Swarovski and donned by Scandinavian stunner Elsa Hosk.
So what does a $50 million bra look like? The design, created by Jacob & Co, aka Jacob Arabo, features 4,410 natural diamonds, including a 75.54-carat yellow rock.
“It is a piece unlike anything the world has seen, and one of the most meaningful creations of my life,” Arabo wrote on Instagram before the show, teasing a blurred photo of the end result.
Not surprisingly, Jenner’s unexpected appearance, the Fantasy Bra’s return and its record-setting value went viral.
Critics blasted the choice saying a model with cred like Hosk (who was on site!) or other veteran Angels should have had the honor. Think Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, the list goes on. The Daily Mail reports some major catfighting went on backstage, with many participants green with envy assuming that momager Kris Jenner clinched the deal.
But this was apparently not the case, as per Victoria Secret’s chief creative officer Adam Selman.
“Kylie really extends beyond fashion, beyond culture, beyond TV, beyond one singular thing,” he told Vogue of the influencer. “That’s the exact same thing that we do. Like, the show is so big, it’s true entertainment, and I think that she is a great catalyst for that. She’s really created her own culture, which — how many people can say that?”
If Miami’s high cost of living means you can’t quite spare $50 mill for an undergarment right now, we can relate. But you can still flex your inner Kylie.
The $398 Very Sexy Shine Fantasy Bra is a separate retail version inspired by that runway piece. The Victoria’s Secret stores at Aventura and Dadeland malls are the only locations in South Florida where you can buy one.
Other locales include Victoria’s Secret stores at the Mall of Millennia in Orlando, Fifth Avenue in New York City and South Coast Plaza in California.
Move quickly, locals. Reps could not provide information on how much stock is available and for how long.
