ORANGE PARK — Grace Episcopal Day School has given its library a new home, moving the collection from a portable building on campus to a charming brick cottage built in 1948.
The relocation over the summer break involved more than moving books from one building to another. The project included transferring the collection, donating older books, recataloging the library’s holdings and installing shelving in the new space. These efforts created an opportunity to reorganize the collection and establish a fresh setting for students to explore the joy of reading.
Once the essential work was complete, the school focused on making the cottage feel warm, inviting and comfortable. Beanbags offer cozy spots for independent reading, colorful cushions provide welcoming seating for story time and cheerful artwork adds warmth and personality to the space.
The transformation has turned the historic cottage into a welcoming place where students can discover new books, enjoy stories together and develop a lifelong love of reading. By combining thoughtful organization with comfortable, inviting touches, Grace Episcopal Day School has created a library that celebrates both the written word and the pleasure of learning.
The move marks a new chapter for the school’s library, bringing its collection into a distinctive setting designed to inspire curiosity, imagination and a love of literature.
