To the editor:

Should we have to vote for one candidate instead of five? Voting for a single member of your voting district is taking away your Democracy.

They have taken away some of our books we can’t read.  Now they wish to take away some of our freedom of speech, too. Voting for all the commissioners is one thing we have left.

Let’s keep it.

One big reason is it helps us control the commission or council we vote for. They all listen to us equally. If we are not in their district some of them will not listen to us, for we do not vote for them if there are single-member districts. Another thing is we pay their salaries. They are still working for us. They should listen to us on that point alone. Still, some of them don’t care to listen.

Another point they are more inclined to listen to all Lee County’s needs as a whole. More things will be done for all of us.

Please vote for all the candidates by voting against this nonvoting initiative on the ballot.
