Cold temperatures prompt Frost Advisory and increased fire danger across Northeast Florida, Southeast Georgia

  • November 12, 2025

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – If you’ve stepped outside today, you know it’s chilly across the Jacksonville area.

Right now, we have a Freeze Warning in place through 8 a.m., with a Frost Advisory along the coast. Exact Track 4D shows temperatures dipping below freezing in many spots—including Jacksonville itself—while Macclenny and Valdosta started the day in the 20s.

If you haven’t already, bring in your pets and protect your plants. The cold stretch is expected to last through mid-morning, with the coldest air between about 5 to 8 a.m.

I also want to remind you that any little breeze can make it feel even colder, so bundle up—especially if the kids are heading to the bus stop.

Wind chill and a slow morning warmup

The wind chill makes things feel even frostier, especially in the early hours. While the wind gusts aren’t as strong as yesterday, even light wind keeps it feeling raw, especially in spots where temperatures have dropped below freezing.

The cold may ease after 8 or 9 a.m., and we are expecting a gradual warm-up later in the day.

Dry air brings fire danger

Another key thing to watch today is the increased fire danger. High pressure has brought us very dry air, making it unsafe to light fires of any kind, even just to stay warm.

Please do what you need to for yourself and your family, but be safe—dry air is a real fire hazard right now.

If you’ve got pictures of how you’re staying warm or frost on your yard, share them on SnapJAX at https://www.news4jax.com/snapjax/.
