The Tampa Animation Festival is bringing the world of animation to the big screen this November. Whether you’re an aspiring animator or simply appreciate the creativity behind your favorite animated films, this four-day festival is a great way to discover new films and see what the art form is all about.
The Tampa Animation Festival returns to the University of Tampa November 5–8 with four days of free film screenings at the Charlene A. Gordon Theater. The festival celebrates the art of animation through diverse shorts, feature films, and cutting-edge techniques, with 120 films from 33 countries showcasing everything from student works to studio productions.
One highlight of this year’s lineup is a special three-night series featuring Brad Schiff, a University of Tampa alumnus and head of animation at LAIKA, the acclaimed stop-motion animation studio behind films like Coraline and ParaNorman. Schiff will be part of the festival throughout the weekend, with screenings of three of his works on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
The festival will also feature a Homegrown block of short films from Florida filmmakers, celebrating animation talent from right here in the Sunshine State. Attendees can connect with the animation community through panels and industry networking, making the festival a chance to discover new voices and explore creative techniques.
Stay tuned for the official festival schedule. All showings are free, with free seat reservations opening Monday. Be sure to reserve your spot ahead of the screenings you don’t want to miss!
