At the time, authorities told First Coast News that several people had been brought in for questioning. Through investigative means, it was later determined that 24-year-old Dominque Alexander had been identified as Rosario’s killer. According to the agency,
Alexander was “driving in another car and shot at the car Rosario was in.” Rosario was said to be sitting on the passenger side of the vehicle.
In March 2026, Alexander had been arrested by JSO for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and was held at the Duval County Jail awaiting trial. On Wednesday, Oct. 21, Alexander was rearrested and charged with second-degree murder, four counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
