ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WINK) — A father and son originally from Cape Coral are living out a bucket list dream at the World Series.
Vince and Bobby Antrilli camped out outside Tropicana Field seven hours before opening pitch. The pair are Rays fans loaded up with jerseys, pins and patches.
“This is kind of like a bucket list thing for me,” Bobby Antrilli said. “Dad brought us, you know, to the games growing up all the time.”
“What was your reaction to that when he said, ‘Hey, we’re going to the World Series,'” Vince Antrilli said. “I was very grateful, humbled. I mean, I knew I was, you know, good kids, and Bobby used the epitome of that.”
The Rays faced a tough challenge, down two games to none against the Milwaukee Brewers. But the Antrillis remained confident in their team.
“You know, we used to the games we used to come to the trop,” Bobby Antrilli said. “We would come watch some of the players, the Yankees and the Red Sox and whatnot. Mainly because my brother-in-law would only come to play the Yankees. But every time we came and we played the Yankees, the Rays won. So we’re very confident that Rays are going to win tonight.”
Vince would love to see the Rays pull out a victory. But both father and son felt just being there together, enjoying a game they love, was a sweet victory.
“Yeah, kind of feeling the same,” Bobby Antrilli said. “Honestly, I don’t care. We’re here. We’re here watching the game. Team’s great.”
