Jacob Misiorowski delivered when the Milwaukee Brewers needed him most, turning in 5.2 scoreless innings in Game 5 to put his team within reach of its first World Series championship. Questions arose over Milwaukee’s decision to hold him back during Game 4, but his performance in the following contest showed why that strategy paid off against the Tampa Bay Rays.

According to USA Today reporter Bob Nightengale, Misiorowski left the game with a sprain in his right calf. The injury raised concerns about whether the young pitcher would be available for any additional World Series games if the series extended beyond Game 5.

Although Jacob Misiorowski managed just two strikeouts on Wednesday, he still gave Milwaukee a valuable outing by recording 17 outs. His effort helped ease the burden on a Brewers bullpen that had been stretched thin after the team’s 12-inning defeat in Game 4, giving its relievers some much-needed breathing room.

Milwaukee’s relievers successfully preserved the advantage after Misiorowski left the mound. JoJo Romero and Abner Uribe kept the opposition off the scoreboard over 1.1 innings before handing the ball to closer Trevor Megill, who recorded the final six outs to seal the victory.

Misiorowski played a major role in Milwaukee’s championship run, and the Brewers capped off their season by winning the World Series with the young ace earning the victory.

The 24-year-old posted a 1.89 ERA across four starts in the 2026 postseason, surrendering only four earned runs over 19 innings. Milwaukee came away victorious every time he took the mound, highlighting his value to the rotation and helping explain why manager Pat Murphy chose to keep him fresh for Game 5.

Misiorowski may need to take it easy on his injured calf, but the Brewers’ first World Series championship gives him plenty of reasons to celebrate. After helping Milwaukee reach the top, the young pitcher can finally enjoy the historic achievement with his teammates.
