CAPE CORAL, Fla. —
On Friday, the City of Cape Coral announced that it has implemented a new notification process to help utility customers identify water leaks.
In a news release, the city said that Customer Billing Services, along with IT, has launched the system that contacts customers by phone or email when continuous water consumption is detected on the property.
More than 2,000 locations have had notifications generated.
The alerts are meant to give customers an early warning, so that they can investigate issues before they lead to a higher water bill.
Customers who receive these notifications can contact Customer Billing Services for troubleshooting, and when appropriate, the city can dispatch a Field Service Representative to assist and identify the possible sources of continuous consumption at the meter.
