(Tampa, FL) – Tampa International Airport went Back to the Future Friday with a demonstration of the latest advanced mobility aircraft. Governor Ron DeSantis says Florida’s eIPP program will include air taxis, cargo delivery, and emergency services. Real-world operations are expected to begin by the end of 2026.
DeSantis says Florida will become a global hub for the FAA’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program. While not technically commercial “flying cars,” eIPP is the first FAA-oversighted world testbed for eVTOLs in the U.S.
FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford says Florida will become a global hub for the eVTOL Integration Pilot Program and is already the most competitive in the country.
DeSantis says the program is public-private with FAA oversight that ensures safety while allowing Floridians to travel from Miami to Orlando without accessing any roads.
“We’ve made infrastructure investments, enacted innovation-friendly policies, and worked hard to usher in a new era of transportation here in the Sunshine State.”
