JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Halloween festivities began early on Saturday afternoon, as the Jacksonville Icemen faced the Atlanta Gladiators in a ghostly game of hockey. With many fans wearing their Halloween costumes, Jacksonville prevailed in overtime, winning 4-3 on a goal by Colby Ambrosio with just 21 seconds left in the OT period. Atlanta had forced the game into OT after coming back from a two-goal deficit and tying the game with 48 seconds left in regulation.
A power play goal by Jacques Bouquot at 6:05 in the first period gave Jacksonville a 1-0 lead. Atlanta’s Ethan Strang tied up the game late in the period, also on a power play. Jacksonville scored twice during the second period to take a 3-1 lead. Tim Heinke scored at the 10:26 mark on a rebound shot, and Jacques Bouquot scored his second of the night on a faceoff pass from Jesse Tucker, one-timing it into the back of the net past Ethan Haider. Headed into the third period and down by two, Atlanta’s Austin Roest made it 3-2 on a power play goal, which went to a lengthy video review by the referees and linesmen before being upheld. Sam Tremblay scored the equalizer at the 19:11 mark to make it 3-3 and force OT. The goal was assisted by Anthony and Joey Cipollone. Late into OT, Colby Ambrosio scored on a rush to give the Icemen a 4-3 victory.
