Tampa Bay Buccaneers on verge of history, when is the last time an NFL team had zero completions in a game?

It was a slop fest in Tampa Bay, and history was made in the Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons game. The rainy conditions kept both teams from airing it out, and the Bucs won in the most unconventional fashion.

Bucs to match Bills from 1974?

Baker Mayfield failed to complete a single pass in the rainy, windy day game from Raymond James Stadium. He only passed the ball three times and failed to complete any of those passes.

Last time a team had 0 completions in any game was Bills in 16-12 win vs Jets 9/29/1974

The Bucs finished the game without a completion and became the first time an NFL team to fail to complete a pass in over 50 years. The last time that happened was back in 1974 when the Buffalo Bills failed to complete a pass against the New York Jets.

That was a rainy, windy game in September that kept both teams from trying to pass the ball too often. In fact, the Bills only tried to throw it twice on a day that saw over 40 mile per hour winds. Quarterback Joe Ferguson went 0/2 on the day, but the Bilss won that game thanks two 223 yard and two touchdowns on the ground.

Picks dictate outcome

Joe Namath was on the other side of history. He aired it out 18 times but completed just two of those passes for 33 yards. He also threw three interceptions on the day.

That’s kind of how the game in Tampa Bay is going. The Bucs won 16-0, thanks to their combined 300 yards rushing. Bucky Irving has a career high 170 yards at the moment, and counting with the Bucs trying to run some clock.

The defense picked off Michael Penix Jr. four times as the Falcons QB and was never able to get his team back into the game. Atlanta has one of the best running backs in the game, but Bijan Robinson was limited to 19 rushes for 76 yards.
