Located at 1423 SE 10th Street, the locally owned café brings an Australian-inspired dining experience to Southwest Florida. Owner Marlies Laaper opened the business in 2015 with a focus on fresh ingredients, quality coffee and healthier food options. ” We’re a ‘if you know you know’ kind of place,’ said Laaper, ” we are not on the beaten path so we get a lot of locals.”
The menu features breakfast and lunch favorites, including avocado toast, breakfast burritos, omelets, salads, wraps and sandwiches. Guests can also find vegan and gluten-free options, along with specialty espresso drinks, herbal teas and freshly baked goods.
Many of the café’s offerings are made from scratch, including its breads and baked goods. Many of the baked goods are vegan, gluten-free or dairy-free, ” At first I just wanted to create food everyone could eat, and then I realized that no one was doing the fine dining vegan meals that we were. People love it.”
The kitchen also features rotating chef specials, giving customers something different to try throughout the week.
Beyond its daytime café menu, Café YOU hosts special evening dining experiences, including themed dinners, wine pairings and vegan dining events. The restaurant also offers catering and private event options.
For November, Café YOU is hosting a vegan Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner will have multiple courses and flavors inspired by a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
