A judge has lifted a no-contact order for a Cape Coral Police officer accused of battery and amended it to forbid violent contact.

Travis Harrison, 34, faces one count of battery and one count of assault, both misdemeanors.

Lee County Judge Nicole Mirra on Oct. 29 granted a motion filed Oct. 12 by Harrison’s defense attorney, Timothy Culhane.

Culhane asked Mirra to restore non-violent contact between Harrison and his accuser, citing that the accuser “would like the defendant to come home to assist and care for his children.”

The motion further argued for Harrison to get his GPS monitor removed, which Mirra OK’d.

At the time of Harrison’s arrest, Cape Coral Police said he was off duty, adding that he was placed on administrative leave.

The female told Lee County sheriff’s deputies that Harrison pushed her and “towered over” her, which made her feel threatened, according to court documents.

The female pushed Harrison back and in response, she said, Harrison “grabbed her wrists, pinned her to the garage floor and stated that women believe they can control men, but he was stronger and could kill her,” the report states.

Harrison can be heard saying “I will [expletive] come for you” and “I will [expletive] you up” in security footage obtained from outside the home.

The accused officer is also accused of pushing the woman back by her head, grabbing her wrists and forcing her into the garage out of view of the camera, the report states.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office launched a criminal investigation into the incident, which led to Harrison’s arrest. The woman declined to press charges but “an arrest was mandatory due to the physical nature of the domestic violence incident.”

Harrison was subsequently placed on leave from the police department while the police department conducts its own internal affairs investigation, the agency wrote in a statement.

Court records indicate Harrison is next due Nov. 3 for a pretrial hearing.
