JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 20-year-old man killed in a shooting that left nine others injured early Sunday morning has been identified by family members as Isaiah Goodson.
Among the nine people injured when gunfire erupted outside a house party near Wilcox and 5th streets was a 15-year-old girl, police said.
Goodson’s aunt told News4JAX he was “a very loving person, didn’t get in any trouble. He was hard-working and very family oriented.”
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said officers responded around 3:50 a.m. Sunday after reports that multiple people had been shot. They found Goodson wounded at the scene. He died later at the hospital.
At least nine others who were wounded had gone to local hospitals, police said. The 15-year-old girl was in stable condition.
The other eight victims ranged in age from 20 to 25 and included six women and two men. One woman was in life-threatening condition; the others were stable, police said.
Investigators believe the house party on 5th Street drew about 100 to 200 people, who spilled into the streets. Two rounds of gunfire were reported in quick succession, with most people believed to have been shot during the second volley, police said.
No suspects were in custody, and investigators had not determined how many people fired shots.
Police asked witnesses to share information, including cellphone video. Tips can be made to the Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
