Muhammad Abdul QaweeCAPE CORAL, Fla. —

An abandoned Wendy’s on Del Prado Boulevard in Cape Coral was vandalized with anti-ICE graffiti, sparking mixed reactions from local residents and raising questions about the motive behind the act.

Debbie Eckdahl, a Cape Coral resident, shared her perspective on the graffiti.

“Well, I do not agree with vandalism, but I agree with the sentiment,” Eckdahl said.

She elaborated further, saying, “I can see the sentiment. You can only do it so much before people start lashing back.”

The identity of the person or people responsible for the vandalism remains unclear, but residents like Luke Pappassodeo are questioning why ICE was targeted.

“I’m a Trump supporter, so I mean, if you’re not in this country legally, I think they’re doing their job, you know?” Pappassodeo said.

He also commented on the broader impact of such actions.

“It just gets everybody going when they see this,” he said.

Eckdahl offered her thoughts on why someone might resort to vandalism.

“People feel helpless and this is a way for someone that feels helpless, that their hands are tied, they don’t know what to do,” she said.

Cape Coral police confirmed they currently have no information on the vandalism.

This is a developing story.
