The Coral Gables Community Foundation celebrated its 35th anniversary on Friday, October 16, with La Dolce Notte, its annual gala held at the Loews Coral Gables Hotel. The sold-out event brought together community leaders, philanthropists, and supporters for an evening recognizing the Foundation’s legacy and honoring individuals whose contributions have made a lasting impact.

The evening featured an Italian-inspired setting, dinner, live entertainment by the Danny Beck Band, with TV personality and actor Terrence “J” Jenkins serving as master of ceremonies. A silent auction showcased an array of exclusive items contributing to the evening’s fundraising efforts to advance the Foundation’s mission.

Four Legacy Awards were presented:

The Honorable Donna E. Shalala received the Education Legacy Award for her leadership in higher education.

Rudy and Lydia Touzet received the Philanthropy Legacy Award for their contributions to education, housing, and community development.

Orville “Shaggy” Burrell, Grammy Award-winning artist and philanthropist, received the Arts & Culture Legacy Award, presented by the Touzet Family, for his contributions to music and humanitarian efforts.

Jorge Gonzalez, CEO of City National Bank of Florida, received the Community Legacy Award, presented by Ray Corral and Alina Meledina, for his leadership and contributions to South Florida.

The gala was chaired by Brian and Nicole Goldmeier and Cozy and Jorge Salazar, whose leadership helped bring the anniversary celebration to life.

“For 35 years, the Foundation has remained dedicated to advancing philanthropy and improving lives” said Mauricio Vivero, President & CEO of the Coral Gables Community Foundation. “This milestone reflects the dedication of our donors, partners, and supporters who continue to help us make an impact, together.”

The annual gala serves as a major fundraising event benefitting the Foundation’s scholarship and grantmaking programs.
