Art with a Heart in Healthcare marked its silver anniversary with record-breaking fundraising at its Oct. 24 gala at WJCT Studios.
Guests raised $200,000 at the signature charity event, which honored Louise Freshman Brown, who spearheaded the organization’s internship program at the University of North Florida in 2003.
The gala’s Visionary Sponsor was the Carter Family, whose involvement stretches back to its founding year, when daughter Catie became AWAHIH’s very first patient. Kerrie Carter, Catie’s mother, has served as a lifetime board member and remains deeply involved in the organization, carrying Catie’s legacy forward.
“It was an honor to be part of such a wonderful evening. As Catie’s mom, it made my heart happy to share her story and see the impact she is still having 25 years later,” said Carter, who shared Catie’s story with guests during the gala.
Since its founding at Wolfson Children’s Hospital by Lori Guadagno and Lisa Landwirth Ullman in 2001, AWAHIH has served more than 150,000 patients and family members.
