FORT MYERS, Fla. —
A Fort Myers man was sentenced to 21 years and eight months in federal prison for enticing minors to engage in sexual activity, receiving and possessing images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children and transferring obscene matter to a minor.
According to the Middle District of Florida’s news release on Tuesday, Rudy Perez, 41, was found guilty on Aug. 3 after a bench trial. He was also sentenced to a life term of supervised release and ordered to register as a sex offender.
According to court documents, Perez was using a social media app between January and April 2022 to try to have sex with a child. In January 2025, a CyberTipline Report was made by a social media app to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that Perez was enticing children for sex acts online.
During the investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation discovered Perez had enticed and solicited other users who identified themselves as children for sexually explicit images, and some children sent the material to him.
Additionally, the Middle District of Florida said Perez sent photographs and sexually explicit videos and images of adults to users who said they were children.
With a search warrant, Perez’s cellphone was seized and a forensic analysis revealed he possessed child sexual abuse material.
The case was investigated by the FBI, Fort Myers Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, including the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
