Officials say students are safe to attend school on Wednesday
The hoax came by a group email, that appears to be designed to solicit money, officials say
Brevard County Sheriff’s Office sent out a message to parents late Tuesday night from the Focus app.
The message was that students are safe to attend school.
It said more than 40 school districts received the threat via a group email, but officials say the email is not believed to be credible.
In addition, the email appears to be designed to solicit money.
Officials say the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI are investigating to figure out where the message came from.
The Sumter County School District is also discussing the matter on social media, calling it a “Swatting” email.
They say they will have more law enforcement officers on campuses on Wednesday because of it.
