TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee police announced the arrest of a man following reports of an armed person near a school campus on Friday.
According to police, the call came from out of state. TPD and Leon County Sheriff’s Office secured the areas.
Less than two hours after the call, the suspect, identified as Demetrius Murray, was arrested in Gadsden County.

According to a release from Leon City Schools, Kate Sullivan Elementary, Cobb Middle and Leon High School were put under ‘closed campus’ protocol due to the threat.
“We are grateful this situation did not escalate and that we were able to work seamlessly with our partner agencies to bring this to a safe conclusion,” said Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell. “We take all threats seriously and remain fully committed to investigating each one to the fullest extent of the law to ensure the safety of our community.”
Murray, 33, is charged with written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism.
