Cape Coral is asking residents to help shape the future of the city’s former golf course, one of its largest open spaces, as leaders begin exploring redevelopment options. Neighbors were invited to a public meeting Nov. 13 at the Public Works Center, where they could participate in a visual design activity, take a survey and review early concepts for the property. Nearby residents said they hope the site remains green and family-friendly, with ideas ranging from splash pads and bike paths to open recreation areas. Many expressed concerns about traffic and density if housing were added. City leaders said the meeting is the first step in a community-driven process to determine how the land should be repurposed, WINK News reports.
