JACKSONVILLE – The time will come to move forward.

But as Patrick Mekari sees it, that time for the Jaguars’ offensive line will come later this week. Until then, the idea will be to learn from a difficult experience.

“We have to look at it, and take accountability for it,” he said.

Mekari, the Jaguars’ starting right guard, spoke to the media Monday in the wake of a loss to the Seattle Seahawks in which the Jaguars’ offensive line struggled more than in the season’s first five games.

“At the end of the day, we did not play well enough up front,” Head Coach Liam Coen said, calling the Jaguars’ next opponent – the Los Angeles Rams – “another challenge against a really good front.”

The Jaguars, after allowing six sacks in the first five games, allowed seven sacks and 17 hits on the quarterback against Seattle. They also rushed for a season-low 59 yards on 19 carries.

“We knew that they had a good front for sure,” Coen said of the Seahawks, “but we definitely did not play our best up front in terms of the level of physicality in the run game, but also obviously in the pass protection. We were just catching a little bit, not throwing our hands and playing stout in some of our pass protection.

“We were just giving up a little bit too much ground at times. It starts there (with the offensive line) and we did not meet our standards of operating up front.”
