The City of Cape Coral is excited to announce the launch of the Well Data Portal, a powerful new online resource designed to help residents, homebuyers, real estate professionals, home inspectors, and contractors make informed decisions about private wells in the city.
The Well Data Portal, which will be unveiled at the May 21 Regular City Council Meeting, provides easy access to current and historical well permit data, including well depth, installation date, contractor information, and more. This user-friendly tool is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to transparency and water resource stewardship.
Why Well Information Matters
For homebuyers and homeowners, understanding a property’s well depth and maintenance history is as important as knowing the age of the roof or air conditioning system. The City encourages these individuals to:
Ask about well depth and maintenance history before purchasing.
Negotiate for well re-drilling if needed, just as you would for other major home systems.
Confirm with your realtor whether the property is connected to City irrigation and if the well has been properly abandoned, as required by ordinance.
Check for any water restrictions or a history of shortages, just as you would check for previous flooding.
A Resource for the Entire Community
The Well Data Portal is designed to save time and money by providing critical well information up front, helping residents and builders avoid unnecessary drilling and costly surprises.
Residents can access the portal at CapeCoral.gov/WellDataPortal.
