The NFL’s 2025 international series finale in Madrid, Spain pits two 3-7 teams against each other, and that’s exactly what it looked like through the first half with the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Commanders tied at 6-6.Â
False start penalties, delay of game penalties and ill-timed sacks were regular occurrences in the first half for both teams, which is why they both had to settle for field goals on each of their first two drives. Dolphins kicker Riley Patterson drained both of his kicks from 46 and 39 yards out while Commanders kicker Matt Gay hit his first attempt from 26 yards, missed his second kick from 51 yards deep wide to the right and drained his final kick from 30 yards out at the halftime buzzer.Â
Both Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (64 yards on 7 for 8 passing) and Washington quarterback Marcus Mariota (119 yards on 12 for 16 passing) were efficient overall. The same goes for Dolphins running back De’Von Achane (53 yards rushing on 7 carries) and Commanders running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. (49 yards rushing on 10 carries).Â
Will Washington backup quarterback Marcus Mariota be able rally Washington to a much-needed victory, or will Tagovailoa outduel his Hawaiian counterpart? Stay tuned to our live blog below to find out!
