WINK News recently connected with community members in Charlotte County during our “WINK Listens” event, where we met Dena Davis, a realtor with LPT Realty, who leads a team of individuals dedicated to helping veterans.
“I’m on the military veteran team, and we are looking for somebody who needs help,” said Davis.
Davis and her team are eager to volunteer their services to veterans requiring assistance with home projects.
“I mean, if it’s a veteran that may need help with something, like their house painted, or some project that needs to be done. There’s a bunch of us in this area that would like to come in and help them,” said Davis.
In an effort to support this initiative, WINK News contacted the Disabled American Veterans organization in Charlotte County. Ashley Abbott from the organization expressed their enthusiasm for partnering with Davis and her team to identify veterans who could use a helping hand.
“We like to be the matchmaker, if you will, has kind of what it feels like. And, just to be able to continue to find other ways and other avenues to help our veterans in our community, there are a lot of them in our community,” said Abbott.
The collaboration aims to ensure that veterans who face physical or financial challenges can receive the necessary support.
“Anybody who needs help with the project, where they can’t physically do it or financially do it. For instance, last weekend, our team was in Tampa, and power-washed and painted a house for a lady who just could not possibly do it herself,” said Davis.
WINK News is dedicated to keeping the community informed about the progress and outcomes of these efforts. For those interested in getting involved, head over to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization website.Â
