CLEMSON, S.C. – Romain Gales is set to play in the NCAA Singles Championship Tournament, beginning Tuesday, Nov. 18, and continuing through Sunday, Nov. 23. Sixty-four individuals will compete at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., with Gales facing No. 2 seed Duncan Chan (TCU) in the first round.

Fall Season Review

Gales earned his NCAA Singles Championship berth at the ITA Carolina Regionals, where he went 4-0, ultimately becoming the singles champion.He defeated two Wake Forest players in consecutive rounds, defeating Delgado 6-3 6-4 in the quarterfinals and Szymkowiak 6-4 6-1 in the semifinals.Gales was then named ITA Carolinas Regional Singles Champion after Pow (Wake Forest) withdrew.He is the first Tiger to earn an NCAA Singles Championship qualification since Yannick Maden in 2013.Gales is the sixth player in program history to be an ITA Regional Singles Champion, joining John Sullivan (1988), Brian Page (1987), Richard Matuszewski (1984), Lawson Duncan (1983) and Rick Rudeen (1982).
