Fort Myers Beach has successfully addressed floodplain management concerns, according to FEMA.

The issues were identified during a Community Assistance Visit from July 15 to 17.

The town updated its administrative processes, permitting procedures and substantial damage procedures, leading to the closure of the CAV.

These improvements will help prevent future violations.

FEMA expressed appreciation for the efforts of town leadership, particularly Dr. Traci Kohler and her team, in resolving the findings.

Continued effective administration is crucial for reducing future flood loss and maintaining participation in the National Flood Insurance Program
