SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Nearly two dozen people have been forced out of their homes after an apartment fire in Altamonte Springs early Wednesday morning.

The fire at Edge at Lake Lotus Apartments closed state roads 434 and 436.

Deana DiPaola, the public information officer with the Altamonte Springs Police Department, shared with Spectrum News 13 that the fire was located between the stairwell halls and within the wall between the first and second floors.
The apartment building has 16 units, but none were directly impacted, she stated, adding that power was disconnected by Duke as a precaution.
A resident in one of the apartment units told Spectrum News 13 that neither he nor his roommates heard the fire alarm go off at the time of the fire.
Spectrum News 13 has reached out to fire officials and Fire Marshal Jesse Weed for comment and is awaiting to hear back.
No injuries were reported.
“The Red Cross is assisting, and management has opened the clubhouse to affected residents,” she stated.
The clubhouse is open for the 20 people who were displaced.
