Traveling during Thanksgiving can be stressful, especially with the surge of holiday passengers, and parking at the airport often becomes a major challenge.

This year, the Lee County Port Authority is reminding travelers to plan ahead when flying out of Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). Expect heavier-than-usual traffic and long lines. Travelers should arrive at their security checkpoint at least 2 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international flights.

Parking and RSW Remote Option

Parking lots at RSW are expected to fill quickly between Friday, November 21, and Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The airport urges travelers to allow extra time to find parking or consider alternatives, such as being dropped off or using commercial transportation. Parking availability updates will be posted on the airport’s website and Facebook page if needed.

To help ease demand, RSW is bringing back its remote and reserved parking option, RSWRemote, located at 11861 Regional Lane, Fort Myers, FL 33913, on the north side of the airport property in the Skyplex area.

Flat fee: $60

Entry begins: Monday, Nov. 24

Lot closes: Sunday, Nov. 30

Note: The fee is non-refundable and cannot be used at other airport parking locations.

Extra time recommended: Add about 30 minutes to use the shuttle service to and from the remote lot.

To reserve a spot, visit the RSWRemote Parking webpage at flylcpa.com/parking/rswremote-parking/.

Additional Travel Tips

Local roads near the airport are expected to be extremely busy. Travelers are encouraged to use the I-75 Direct Connect to reduce congestion when accessing RSW.

If inclement weather is expected at your destination or connecting airport, be sure to check with your airline for potential schedule changes.
